Since the late 1970s, ARC has worked on public projects that serve broad civic needs: city halls connect residents with elected officials and staff and celebrate city government; libraries are important third places for neighborhood residents; and fire stations, police stations and public works projects provide necessary safety and operations functions. Many projects begin with an assessment of existing facilities and functions, programming for a new building, and site analysis for potential locations. Public meetings and early community input are a critical part of the process for a successful civic project.
